Feeling Irritated?

When you use an irritated tone chances are you are creating the feeling that you are justified in putting the responsibility for a situation outside of yourself. Your irritated tone is really saying, "My lack of serenity is caused by the behavior of others or circumstances that I did not cause. I am not responsible for feeling irritated.” People believe they are responsible for their actions and feelings but when they use the tone of irritation they claim the opposite. Irritation allows people to drop their value of self-reliance and lean on others to be responsible for their mood. Not surprisingly this creates problems in all kinds of relationships. The next time you feel irritated try acknowledging and becoming aware of how you are irritating yourself to avoid being responsible for how you feel and behave.
